2004 in Retrospect
Megeve has a long world cup tradition. Already for the 16th time the French skiing region hosts the best skiing athletes. First of all from 1967 until 1975 the alpine men competed for points in world cup, 14 years ago the last super-G took place there. From 1977 until 1987 the world cup ladies went regularly to Megeve. During the following years the village became less important for the world cup-circus. Only in 2004 on january 4th and 5th the women fought out a slalom and a super-G. Alexandra Meissnitzer, Renate Götschl and Michaela Dorfmeister dominated the speed race. At slalom Anja Paerson won in front of Marlies Schild, followed by two Germans - Martina Ertl-Renz and Monika Bergmann-Schmuderer - together on the third place.

Ski Resort with Flair
Megeve is a ski resort with charm and elegance. With the Mont-Blanc in its background the winter sports resort combines tradition and modernism in a perfect way. People say that the village owns a soul. Indeed the fabolous village in Savoy is considered to be a jewel-case where tradition is embedded in majestic nature. It can claim proudly that it is not inferior to the big ski resorts. Beside Chamonix Megeve is the most important ski resort of the region High Savoy. The village is surrounded by three mountains where skiing is possible but which aren´t linked with each other completely so that the leisure skier has to cross the area by bus sometimes. The ski resort is situated on 1.100 to 2.350 meters altitude and has 132 ski pistes with a longitude of more than 300 kilometers.
