I drove up from Spokane to take advantage of the freshies! It had just snowed some 55 inches in less than 48 hrs! Singles weren’t allowed because of the risk! I ended up teaming up with some teenagers and started skiing! The most snow I’ve ever skied! Couldn’t even see my skis for most of the day! After lunch I got separated from the group. After a couple more runs & looking at the map, I tried getting down the mtn! Not sure exactly what happened, but I got off the trail and snow was over my head! Luckily I was able to take my skis off and started crawling. Some three hrs later I crawled off the man! I was laying there in a pool of sweet in zero degrees F when an employee walked past me and asked me where I came from? I told him & he responded by saying that the man has been closed for two hrs! Skipped supper, headed to hotel & straight to bed! Would love to go back and hope the resort is able to survive!... Vollständige Bewertung

Red Mountain exceeded our expectations. A scenic, under 3hr drive from Spokane made our travel from NYC w/ our 7yr old daughter very manageable. Our concerns of recent warm temps were quickly dissolved when it started snowing by 8am the first day on the lifts. 3 days & 16" + made for untracked & steeeeep lines down countless chutes & bowls, all filled w/ trees, both spaced & tight. When you tire of that, take a quick cat ride up to Mt Kircup. Its cheap & beats the 20min hike to some more of previously mentioned terrain. The warm weather effected the snow quality a bit. It made for some heavy, wet conditions, but that didn't deter us from getting our fill of untracked lines. A 2hr drive to soak in Ainsworth Hot Spring is well worth it, and we hear Whitewater is a great mountain, but we stuck to Red. Never leave snow to go find it elsewhere! Our daughter loves Red Mt & excelled beyond our believes in ski school. She logged more hrs on the mountain than anyone & had enough energy to take us for runs after we picked her up. If you haven't already, check out BC's Powder Highway & make a stop @ Red.... Vollständige Bewertung

RED is seriously amazing. i've skied a lot of places and couldn't believe how fun this place was. If you love off-piste and tree skiing this is your dream-spot. Good intermediate terrain, beginners have a handful of options, super cheap lift tickets, and unreal advanced terrain with 360 degree descents. unheard of in a lot of places. the new mountain expansion and chairlift to grey is AWESOME. and now $10/run cat skiing too! Rafters lounge gets wild for apres, everyone is super friendly (like for real) and the town is pretty incredible too - not to mention the award-winning brewery was one of the favorites. Long story short, this place is quite the hidden gem. ... Vollständige Bewertung

Just a few miles north of the US border, north of Spokane, WA, lies perhaps my favorite resort. I've skied in Europe, all over the U.S. (east and west) and all over the BC/Alberta mountains. Red strikes a perfect balance of extreme side country skiing and a family-friendly resort. The trees here are perhaps the best I've ever skied. The annual snowfall is huge, but I recommend waiting until January for it to pile up. The lodging is best if you VRBO but they're building a hotel there this year. I'd also recommend Prestige Mountain Resort. It's clean and offers free shuttles from town 3 miles away. The resort has 4 mountains, one of which is accessible only by cat. The cat is $10 per rider on top of whatever pass you have. However, you'll find untouched powder there even a week after the most recent snowfall. Finish your day at Rafters, voted BC's #1 apres ski bar. I only know that because I use its status to convince my wife to let me go there more often than I should. Try the excellent sushi in town and grab breakfast at Alpine Grind. Dinner at The Garage is 5 star food. Highly recommend it. Finally, this resort offers world class skiing but I perhaps like it most because the people are so great. Aussies, Canucks, Kiwis, Limeys and 'Mericans are there for one reason, and that reason is snow. Also, recommend you go to Whitewater Ski Resort just 45 minutes from Red. Also, recommend you go to Ainsworth Hot Springs and Nelson, also 45 minutes from Red. Enjoy... Vollständige Bewertung

This resort is simply massive. You couldn't explore it in a week, especially if you ski trees. The four peaks each has its own allure. Get lost in the Powder Fields, ditch your friends on a $10 Kirkup cat skiing run. Only a few miles north of the border, this resort is incredible. Rafters has an excellent apres and everything is cheap - especially right now with the U.S.-Canada exchange rate. I'm honestly surprised this resort hasn't gotten more press. I've been everywhere and this is one of my favorites. Downtown, there's a huge gourmet grocery store called Ferraro's, and a few great restaurants and pubs. Downtown is only a couple miles from the resort and it's serviced by a free bus during the ski season. The Garage is a must-eat experience. 4 Stars, easily. The Flying Steamshovel is a great pub with live music. The Grind has excellent bagels, pastries, coffees and paninis. If you must, Whitewater resort is right up the road in Nelson, BC, a little over an hour away. That could possibly be one of the best resorts ever. Then, back on the U.S. side of the border you have Schweitzer, 49 Degrees North and others. ... Vollständige Bewertung
