New management has no experience and it shows. Prices for daily tickets are over $70 when the majority of the terrain doesn't open until February. Cafe food is insanly overpriced ($4 for a normal sized candy bar) . Typically one lift running. Always short staffed and bathrooms resprt is always dirty on weekends.
Its a ski hill
Staff rarely knows whats going on, high daily rate, overpriced cafe food

No where to put your boots on. Fires are dismal and the heaters are usually out of gas. Only one chair in use and one run open

No where to get warm!

Check to see if they’re open and ask what lifts will be running because the website is often inaccurate and you never know. Maybe it’s “we’re closed Mondays now”...Maybe it’s “our chairlifts are all broken down”. Maybe half the ski hill will be closed for racing. They reported 100% open for months this year, but one of their lifts didn’t open to the public for the entire season. Dress warm, the lifts break down a lot.

Lack of expert skiing. Inconsistent and limited lift operations

It's been decades since skiing here in my college days (then known as Clift's Ridge). I forgot how high and steep the runs at this mountain are. Yeah, it's been a record snow year in Marquette, but being this far north and right against Lake Superior...this area is almost guaranteed to have snow. And the grooming crew and equipment seem to be rock starts, all the main runs were in awesome shape every morning. The $25 a day lift ticket is a steal. I got in 2 hours of runs on Sunday morning and didn't feel at all guilty of wasting money. The only lift lines of any sort were on Saturday afternoon for a couple of hours of a race weekend....otherwise ZERO lift lines. The only knock on the place might be that the lodge is tired and needs some updating. But, downtown Marquette is like a 10 minute drive away, and if this was some fancy resort the prices and crowds would just go up. Marquette Mountain is a hidden gem....that I hope stays hidden because I plan to come back every year.
Tons of dependable snow, low prices ($25 lift tickets), no lift lines, and thrilling runs.
Lodge in threadbare, but honestly that part of the charm, and it keeps the crowds

The new general manager over promised and under delivered on all counts. It is the end of January and less than half if terrain is open to skiing. Large amounts of snow and cold weather will not hide the incompetence that now exists here. Marquette Mountain has become a huge disappointment.
Daily lift tickets are cheap

My family had a great time over spring break. We have skiied out west and live in northern lower Michigan, so have our share of hills. Marquette mountain is a great value with some good vertical drop and the city of Marquette is a great place to visit.
Decent vertical drop for a ski hill this size
Not a hug resort, but they never claimed to be

During my experience here for this winter as a season pass holder I have noticed that the prices are way too high for lift tickets, rentals and season passes. A season pass costs around 500 dollars(that's a ski RESORT rate) and to get a day pass plus rentals costs about 50. And for half the winter there wasn't even a terrain park, half the time the hill was half groomed due to mechanic errors that left the mountain with only one groomer so far almost all winter. The bathrooms have been cleaned maybe three times all year. I work in customer service and have for almost 6 years now and their bathroom not only smells disgusting but had poop caked on the seat. That to me is the dirtiest most unprofessional thing I've ever seen. But not ONCE have I seen 1 employee or manager look at them or clean them. Plus the lifts are hardly worked on, one caught on fire this year and all of the snow making equipment is messed up beyond all recognition. But don't worry they were able to put in a 70000 dollar arcade instead of worrying your safety. They just want your money And this is not new news to the locals and regulars of this recreation area. I highly recommend choosing elseware to spend your hard earned cash. I know I will be

This mountain is horrible and is not family friendly at all. myself and two oter famil members were in the U.P and wanted to try this mountain. After traveling 2 hours to get here, we were unaware that half the mountain would be closed to to lack of snow. Let alone they were making "snow" as they said but really it was just ice chunks because their machines are the crappiest I've seen. After we got all of our gear, we went up a chairlift that led us to the mostly closed side of the map. We wanted to go down a green circle just to get a feel for the mountain but it looked bad in that direction so we wandered over there to check it out. After noticing it looks bad, we wandered back and soon a ski patrol came up and dropped a trail closed sign and told us it was closed and we had to go down one of the black diamonds. This was an hour after the mountain opened and the trail closed should have been places before opening. So were not thrlled to go down a black diamond first run out. Throughout the day, the workers were angry and often unhelpful. The local high schoolers and college student ski team felt like they owned the place and threw there stuff all over the common areas. It was a mess and they were so disrespectful to visitors. The mountain was icy by 1pm and soon after we left after seeing 3 people get hurt pretty badly. Waste of time and money.

I was here last year and noticed some changes. I had asked the GM about it and she said they made improvements to 2 of the 3 lifts, snowmaking capabilities, and air conditioning to the lodge. Obviously theres no benefit for that in the winter but it gives it more of a year round use. She said there are going significantly more improvements to the hill and lodge in the upcoming year. Great place to be for the family and all the staff very helpful and friendly. We will plan another trip up there for sure!!
