Mein Cousin, der sich *sehr* gut auskennt, hat mich mal hierher mitgenommen… Ich wohne ziemlich weit weg von Montana, und als ich ihn dort besuchte, meinte ich: „Warum fahren wir nicht nach Big Sky?“ Tja…
Die Liftkarten waren spottbillig, es gab keine Warteschlangen, es waren *kaum* andere Skifahrer und Snowboarder am Berg, und wir genossen den ganzen Tag das sanfte Knirschen des unberührten Schnees unter unseren Skiern. Ich war schon in Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Steamboat Springs, Vail, Keystone, Winter Park, Beaver Creek, Snowbasin, Whistler usw., und nur Whistler bot besseres Skifahren. *Nur* Whistler. Discovery ist zwar nicht so groß, aber… wegen der kurzen Wartezeiten, der fantastischen Preise und vor allem des unglaublichen Schnees und der unberührten Natur… einfach alles ist es wirklich erstaunlich. Es ist eine Sache, ein Skigebiet zu mögen. Es ist etwas ganz anderes, wenn sich die eigene Vorstellung davon, wie gut Skifahren wirklich sein kann, für immer verändert. Von allen Skitouren, die ich je unternommen habe, war keine mit dem unberührten Schnee und der klaren Luft von Discovery vergleichbar.

If you wanna place to be all by yourself skiing, this is it… And the backside is well. Epic when there’s snow… Could be one of the best ever. If you’re looking for a place to stay after, Phillipsburg is super cool – Anaconda is meh, but it has lots of food and bars. My recommendation is to go to Phillipsburg ski discovery, get a good Airbnb.

Love this resort ! The staff is top notch. Prices are amazing food is excellent ! Ski instructors are the best! The snow is amazing. Terrain is always well groomed, and the bumps rock they even have a triple black run. To skip the lines of people I suggest weekday skiing, it’s like having your own private ski resort!!

Discovery is a wonderful small ski area run by folks who really know what they’re doing. The result is fantastic grooming, lifts that run and the best food values of any Montana resort (check out the fresh rolls, cookies, soups, entrees). The beginner area is perfect for kids and viewing parents. There’s a full range of runs including a double-diamond backside for the deepest days and more steeply inclined. The views from the ski hill Are a mini Lake Tahoe with the Pintler Wilderness Peaks surrounding Georgetown Lake, The drive from the north through cowboy land is peaceful and spectacular. Overall, a great experience if you stay local or drive remotely.

This is a great local hill. One of, if not, my favorite. Three back side terrain is quite fun and you can find some technical terrain if you're looking. However, the runs are fairly short in comparison, especially on the steeper back side.

We’ve skied western Montana for 30+ years and choose Disco as our favorite for size, variety of terrain from too easy to too hard, lack of crowds (even on busy weekends, skiers are well-dispersed and lines aren’t bad), and their affordable season passes. And the scenery is great, too!
Great family area and a Backside full of Double Blacks to challenge anyone. Great ski school. Snow cover goes from awesome to adequate with plenty of powder from early January. Apres Ski is what you'd expect from old mining and smelter towns but great restaurants in the area.
Undiscovered and underrated but a fun place to ski and a great value.
