I've lived and skied in Tahoe for over 35 years. Worked at and/or had passes at Palisdes (Squaw), Alpine Meadows, and Mt Rose, in addition to Diamond Peak. The size , challenge, and variety of terrain at DP cannot hold a candle to those other mountains. And you know what, I don't care. I've grown sick and tired of the endless hassle experie nced at the bigger resorts: traffic jams, parking nighmares, long lift lines, and crowds of people. Diamond Peak is almost pure pleasure: easy parking, a shuttle every 5 minutes (if you need it), virtually no lift lines, and friendly people. And the skiing is pretty darn good. Advanced skiers will spend virtually all of there time skiing the one high speed quad (Crystal Express), which provides 1400 vertical feet of intermediate and advanced high speed groomers and a handful of advanced off piste runs. The biggest fun for an advanced skier is the glade skiing, especially on a powder day. One can ski powder for days after a storm, vs. one or two hours at other resorts. There are some good glades on the lower mointain, too. With a bit of creativity, there is plenty of challenge to be found. I still ski the other Tahoe resorts, but I pick and choose my times - preferably on a storm day (or just after), when the crowds can't get here. Day in and day out, I choose Diamond Peak. One caveat: all bets are off Christmas week and Presidents week, when the number of skiers at DP quadruples. Other than those two weeks, you'll virtually never wait in a line.
Much less hassle than your typical Tahoe resort. Excellent tree skiing.
No real expert terrain and not much in the way of ammenities.

Gorgeous ski views with tons of fresh pow and plenty of runs for all levels. Friendly staff. Parking lot trams take you close to chairlifts.
Tons of fresh pow, no chairlift lines, amazing ski views, delish hot cocoa
No cozy fireplaces inside the lodge. Views of the slopes and lake from the lodge could be better

I learned to ski here in 1987. It is a wonderful mountain provided there is adequate snow coverage. A handful of the runs rarely open unless its a great snow year. There is ample Intermediate and Advanced terrain. It is lacking in novice runs so those 2 runs can get crowded. The steepest runs are on the upper mountain in Thunder, Lightning, Diamondback and Battleborn. Lower mountain you are looking at GS and O God if they are open which many years they are not. Most of the other advanced runs are rather short. Solitude canyon is decent glade skiing but isn't always open. I am an Intermediate skier/boarder. My favorite run is the golden eagle bowl hands down. Crystal ridge will give you some of the best views of Lake Tahoe. There are no double blacks here so if you are looking for cliffs or very very steep terrain you may be disappointed. However the advanced runs on the upper mountain are pretty steep and straight so you can definitely get some serious speed here.

Diamond Peak has a ton for a great price. Half the lift lines and price with great snow. Terrain for beginners and advanced skiers. Don't miss out on a great mountain.
Excellent all level terrain, great staff, food is wonderful and cannot beat the views.

We love Diamond Peak! Great for families. Nice view. Friendly staff. I will miss skiing this winter at Diamond Peak. I asked for refund on unused Season Passes. No questions asked. Maria was very helpful. We are planning be there next season.

I went skiing Christmas 2016 here. I was staying in South Lake Tahoe and wanted to get away from the crowds and Heavenly Ski Resort was so busy. Heavenly had an extremely long wait time to get up on the mountain with the Gondola and people were everywhere. I wanted to spend some time in Incline Village, so I drove the short distance to Diamond Peak. I haven't been skiing in about 15 years. Everyone was so friendly and it had a great feel to it. It was a lot less expensive and other resorts around. I am so glad I went. It was awesome! Thanks to all the staff for the friendly service. I will be back!
Extremely Friendly and Helpful Staff

I love this place. It has the longest runs in the Tahoe area. Price is less than half than nearby Mount Rose or North Star. Lifts are fast and no wait. The view of the lake is fantastic.
Long runs, great views, reasonable price

I just visited Diamond Peak. It was a nice small resort with only a few runs. The two days I spent there, it wasn't very crowded at all. It snowed 16" over the two days, so runs were nice and clean. Ice wasn't a factor either. I can't speak for the resort in different conditions, but I really enjoyed it the days I visited!

Great mountain - love the runs and staff. Snowmaking keeps the base deep even in a slow winter. This year getting plenty of pow. Ski for half the price with half the crowd by coming to DP.
Uncrowded, great value for money and wonderful runs. Find powder days later.
Smaller and less terrain.
