I brought my three kids (10, 9 & 7) by myself over Christmas break and had a great time. The mountain is small enough that my older two could ski faster and go on their own as my youngest is a timid skier. This will be a great mountain this year as my kids sharpen their skills and get their confidence up. And! I don't have to worry about losing my kids as I would at Meadows or Timberline. At some point, this mountain will get boring for them, but for now the price is amazing and just what my family needs to enjoy skiing together safely. ... Vollständige Bewertung
We arrived at 10:30AM on New Year's Eve, and the parking lot was completely full. No big deal, we'll take the shuttle, but it only runs every 20 minutes, and the line was very long. It took two shuttles for us to finally get on. When we arrived at the "lodge", the ticket line was another 20 minute wait because they only have one ticket window.
Their website clearly states that you get a discount when you show your Safeway card on Fridays. The employee working behind the plexiglass stated that it no longer is in effect.
The indoor bathrooms had a line out the door.
In short, Cooper's Spur is not setup for a large crowd. We won't be going again, but if you chance going there, I would advise doing it on a random non-holiday in the middle of the week.... Vollständige Bewertung
The trail was short and relatively easy for first time snow shoers. The map provided was inaccurate in areas.
The staff was unclear as to what to charge, and the pricing on the brochure was unclear as well. We were told one cost by two staff members, but were charged a higher price at the counter. The management was hostile and very difficult to deal with.
In fact, I have never had such an experience with this type of rude behavior and poor customer service.

I was a little leary about going to Cooper Spur Ski Resort after reading some of the reviews. I think most of the poor reviews were meant for the lodging.
I took a 52 yr old, 3-20 yr olds, and a 13 yr old. It is a great place for a beginner and if you have never skied or snowboarded then for the price of the beginner pkg $30(which included equipment, ski lift ticket and tubing and only $15 for lessons every hour on the hour you cannot complain. The instructors were very helpful and nice and were there to help you learn.
We watched those who did not take lessons and did not know how to ski or snowboard become very frustrated and gave up and then those who took a lesson became confident and were ready to go down the beginner slope by the end of the day with confidence.
We would recommend this to anyone who is a first time skier/snowboarder. If you have been skiing for years, I would think that you would probably get board here but for beginners or even an intermediate skier, the price is right. I did not stay at the lodge so I cannot tell you anything about that.
I would suggest that if you are renting equipment there you are there by 9 a.m. to be sure you get the equipment in your size and they do not run out.... Vollständige Bewertung
I'm guessing that Cooper Spur may be a good place to go when it's not going to be busy! We took our 2 kids there on New Years day and had a dissapointing experience. The parking lot filled up quick and we had to wait for over a half an hour for the shuttle bus which is supposed to run every 10-15 minutes to the ski area. Our first impression when arriving there was that the staff was unfriendly and rude. I'm guessing maybe they are a little overworked and underpayed?? No excuse for giving bad service though. Their rentals were a joke to say the least. Their snowboarding equipment for the kids was so outdated that we decided not to rent gear for them at all. Instead the kids did the innertubing which was also very dissapointing. They had to wait in line for one of a handful of tubes that were being shared to go down a super short run. They got bored with that after 2 times down. The staff makes it clear that there are no refunds for the tubing which was $10/kid, they must know that it's a joke themselves! On the bright side the lift line did go pretty fast and there are beautiful views of Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood from the top of the hill. Other than that I probably wouldn't return to Cooper Spur unless I knew that we were going to have the place to ourselves. It's definitely a beginners slope and not much fun for a more experienced skiier.... Vollständige Bewertung
Wow! After reading the reviews, I decided I needed to write a review.
Our experience at Cooper Spur was more than we expected!!! Last winter, we decided it was time for our girls to learn how to ski and several family friends recommend Cooper Spur. We did not stay at the resort but we did do the 'total package' for the kids, which included skis, lift tickets, and lessons (all day).
We had heard that the lodge had space available for coolers, etc...so we brought snacks to reenergize. Every hour they start a new lesson and the kids can jump in to learn or just keep practicing. We met two of the ski instructors that worked with our girls and their personalities were perfect for working with beginning kids. By the end of the day, both girls were able to make their way down the basic runs and negotiate the chair lift. After another day, they were excited and skiing down most of the runs. The instructors even took time to take a couple of runs with each of them to give some pointers and a lot more positive feedback for how much they had learned!!!
Cooper Spur is not a fancy resort. For us, it has been a family-friendly resort and a safe place for kids. The ski instructors created two avid ski-crazy girls who have been checking the web each day for an opening date. We recommend it to people all the time when they talk about getting their kids started!

Okay, what were you expecting, a first class resort with ideal runs? This little ski "resort" is here and exists because it caters to the lower priced levels. Your not going to find anything exciting about it, but again it's just a fun little place to go once in awhile. As for the staff, you can find good and bad at any establishment, anywhere. Just bad luck I have to believe for some.... Vollständige Bewertung
