This resort is HORRIBLE. There’s trash EVERYWHERE it’s not even funny. There’s even a little hut like type house under one of the lifts that is covered in over a hundred cans. Don’t even get me started on the workers. From the lift operators, to ski patrol, to even the workers in the cabin everyone has no manners and is completely RUDE. For the price (especially the recent spike in passes over the years) ITS NOT WORTH IT. The lift operators can’t even operate the lift properly for beginners who are getting used to going on and off the lift. I’ve witnessed multiple bad collisions that could’ve been avoided by the lift operators. The cabin is dirty and disgusting and the bathrooms are not maintained at all. DO NOT GO TO BLUE KNOB. There’s one elder woman that works there that is absolutely insufferable and shouldn’t even be allowed working inside of that place bc she’s chasing all the business away with her nasty attitude and tone. Again everyone save your money to go to a better resort because I can assure you everyone at this place (including the people keeping you safe) (ski patrol) have no idea what they are doing. ... We always love to come to Blue Knob. It's getting better and better year after year. They are doing a good job on the repairs, it's still need some TLC but it's much better than used to be. But comparing all the pros and cons and specially for the price it's the best ski resort in south NY.... Vollständige Bewertung

Skied at “The Knob” yesterday 1/29/19. We lucked out with 4-5 inches of new fresh powder driving up the mountain and all morning! I skied here back in the 60’s and 70’s as a kid and this is the first time back since about 1975, so I have very fond memories of the mountain. Please support the new owners in their efforts to upgrade a creaky old gem of a skier’s mountain local to DC, Balt, & Pittsburgh. This is inexpensive, no frills skiing (check out the great deals), so don’t expect the facilities (lodge, lifts, snowmaking) to be state of the That said, it’s perfect for a one or two day trip with friends or family to stay in shape for your bigger trips out west. It’s very important on many levels that these local ski mountains like Blue Knob be kept open and viable. ... Vollständige Bewertung

I have been to Blue Knob probably 20 times in 2 years. I haven't went anywhere else but I think if you can ski or snowboard at Blue Knob, then you can do it anywhere!... Vollständige Bewertung

Old Man Blue Knob

Looking for an adventure? See if you can conquer The Knob! My cousin came up from Florida and wanted to go skiing, but was tired of Seven Springs, so I thought conquering the knob would make for a fun adventure. Having seen the inexpensive lift tickets and lodging deals for the last few years, I wanted to check out Blue Knob as an alternative to other near-Pittsburgh ski areas. Booked a one night stay in a studio right through their site for $150 and grabbed some lift tickets on Liftopia for about $45. This was during a holiday (post Christmas), so the prices were slightly more than normal. Here's a breakdown: Skiing Terrain: Runs here are super long compared to Seven Springs and Hidden Valley. I would even say the green runs here are on par with a lot of blue runs at other PA resorts. Upper/Lower Mambo has got to be like 2 miles long and you can use some connecting sections to pick up good speed. They really only had like 2-3 runs open while we were here, but the runs are long enough to where it was still a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to going back when more is open. Watch out though, I can see how it can get pretty icy/windy here and that adds a serious challenge to even the easier slopes. Lodging: We rented a studio that included a bed and pull out sofa. Note that the condo area is not within walking distance to the slopes - you have to drive about 1.2 miles up a road and then park to be at the ski lodge area. The studio was alright, but it's very bare bones. Not a place to hang out IMO, more for sleeping and showering only. We had a little stove, microwave, and full size fridge, so that was nice. Bathroom was good with hot water and good pressure. Everyone in the condo office was very nice and accommodating. Our biggest gripe was the lack of wifi there, since we brought a laptop and planned to watch some movies on Netflix. Cell service is basically nonexistent here, so you have to rely on wifi. Don't plan on having any cell service or wifi here. Food & Nightlife: There's a little bar near the condo area called "The Clubhouse". Seems like a bunch of locals were hanging out there. Food was pretty good and they had a better than expected beer selection. Definitely better than the food/drink options on the mountain. Mountain Ski Lodge and Amenities: I was at Blue Knob about 25 years ago and I'm guessing nothing has been updated since then. Everything is straight out of the 80's and early 90's. The little bar at the top of the mountain is okay (service wasn't the best). What they had for food was an absolute joke, like day old pizza, re-fried french fries, and horrible frozen chicken fingers. The food is on par with a concession stand at a little league baseball game. Advice: If you come here, bring your own food as it will almost certainly be better than what they have in the lodge area. Also, they do not have any ski check areas here which I found strange, so bring a lock if you want to keep your equipment safe. We had to use the rental area to get ready (I'm not a fan of getting dressed and putting on ski boots in the parking lot in 20 degree temps) since they don't have a dedicated locker room area. Overall: Blue Knob is okay if you know what to expect. It's all very basic, so don't expect much in terms of lodging/food/nightlife. This place is all about the skiing and I can see how it would be fantastic after a good snow storm. ... Vollständige Bewertung

just discovered this place couple years ago through a friend and was thoroughly impressed with the long runs, steep terrain, and low crowds. out of the way, this has helped keep crowds low for the most part. geography dictates not much great snow but if you time it with a good storm, there's nothing getter in the region for vertical. bar is good for after or mid day beers, nothing special, but it's warm and that's why it's so cheap. love this place, 4 stars for lodge and snow quality, 5 for mountain.... My fiancee & I drove up for a day trip from DC. The drive took about two and half hours. She is a confidant intermediate skier who skis mostly blues and I am starting to challenge myself skiing some single blacks. The mountain and the skiing are pretty great for anything in the Mid-Atlantic region. I didn't it hurt they had six inches of fresh snow during the week. Jack Rabbit and Mambo are great long runs that offer varied terrain and challenge for the beginning intermediate skier. Tried stemboagan late in the afternoon was a good challenge for me. You can tell as long as there is fresh snow this is a great place, but avoid times at which there are freeze thaw cycles cause it defiantly can get really icy. Rental equipment is well worn and not the best condition . Rental staff is not the most knowledgeable as well but did there best to be accommodating. Ski lodge is outdated with limited seating. Lifts are slow and with wait times of fifteen minutes at the bottom of the mountain. With lift and rentals about $70 per person can't beat the price or the value. Would go back whenever I get the chance.... Vollständige Bewertung
