Best kept secret for skiing. Reminds me of Norway.

In Scotland you ski on a mixture of snow, slush, ice, rocks and stones, in the wind, sleet or a blizzard. Too much proper snow then the roads end up being impassable or dangerous. Not for the faint hearted. Wear a helmet. Take a shovel in the car.

Been to Glencoe a few times and really enjoy it there. Given a good forecast it's perfect to pack the kit and drive to for a great day on on the slopes. Plenty to go at from easy stuff (fine for beginners) at the bottom near the access chair to the mighty Fly Paper off the top at the back. better access tows mean less bottlenecks now and the "natural features" of the mainly ungroomed runs add to the fun - it can be wild and bumpy, but hey that's Scotland. If you catch it on a powder day than it really can't beaten. The situation above Glencoe and Rannoch Moor is stunning. The bottom cafe is excellent and really so is the mountain one with great pies and good hearty food (cash only).

A group of us headed up on the last day of March and stayed overnight in one of the microlodges, these were cheap cheerful and got the job done! The next day the weather was fantastic, literally could not have asked for better conditions. The views on the chairlift and the mountain are absoloutely breath taking. The snow cover was great with all runs and lifts open and we had a fantastic day! Glencoe is great for the more experienced skiier/boarder and thos who like the freestyle effect of riding a pure mountain. The only complaints I have is the lifts are old and I mean old and the Eagles rest cafe is not as good as it should be (BUT it has been fully renovated for the 2013/14 season). I love Glencoe and will definitely be back again this season!
Conditions are bad right now. An ok resort when the snow is good (if you like 'em small). Despite their weather reports the conditions were bad today - sparse snow, lots of rocks and ice. Runs very badly maintained, not a smooth ride at all. Toilets out of order. 30 mins for a cup of soup from the cafe.
We could only manage a few hours of this so I resented the big NO CASH REFUNDS sign at the ticket office. At £30 it's the most expensive place in Scotland, but you don't get much for the money.
If the snow gets better it's a decent place for beginners. Two chair lifts make it easier to get around.
Glencoe Ski Centre is having a great season with continuing snowfall. 5" of fresh snow fell last night (Mon 14th April). Skiing on the upper and middle slopes is fantastic. Lower runs remain skiable but are broken at the bottom.
Come On .... Use it or loose it!!!!!!
