I've been coming to Stratton sporadically the last 25 years. Think it's a great place for families, and to take people new to skiing. Has enough long beginner trails for the newbies, and challenging trails for those more advanced. Thought they did a really good job with Covid precautions and social distancing.
The rental area was not crowded at all, and my friends got their equipment super quick.
Lift lines moved quickly, and on a Saturday & Sunday, it was not crowded at all. The staff was friendly and helpful.... Vollständige Bewertung
I don't feel its fair to judge this year, it definitively wasn't as much fun with less money coming in and restricted amenities. They've done as good a job as any. They're trying to cut costs while complying. Stratton tends to look like a city, they've overbuilt and in normal years they wouldn't be able to accommodate the amount of people but this year was pleasant. The staff was upbeat and all Covid protocols were enforced and followed. All that aside its a great mountain in a perfect location. I hope they do some updating, the resorts needs it for lifts and lodges. ... Vollständige Bewertung
I’ve been coming to Stratton all of my life and this weekend is my last.
Snowmaking is good but they have way too many runs closed.. even after a 2 foot dump
Facilities are aging fast. No restrooms at summit and no outdoor restrooms (covid friendly)
Food lacks quality and there are not a lot of options. Today, the sun bowl was out of over 50% of their menu by 1pm
Masking policy at lifts was not strictly enforced ... Vollständige Bewertung
We come to Stratton since more than 5 years for almost a month of skiing. Our children were in the various ski programs of the mountain and they also took private ski lessons for advanced skiers. The pool of good teachers of Stratton is amazing. Not too many resorts still have Level 3 instructors to really polish your kid skiing. The lower level instructors are a mixed bag and I hope they will not give up to their standards for the sake of cheap money. The racing program is fabulous and it is available to all middle-schoolers who want to come each weekend. It is a very good option for a NYC parent who is worried about his child not being able to participate in a high level sport.
I will miss them over the COVID-19 closure and I hope to see everybody healthy and ready to ski next year.... Vollständige Bewertung
If you go on a Saturday expect to wait forever in a mix of rental and beginner skiers. The snow gets skied of after lunch but it is usually groomed well. It is also pretty flat and you have to do a lot of walking but this is t fixable and there are redeeming qualities. I think the mountain could have some sort of population control that limits how many tickets are sold so that you can ski more than wait in lines. It is pretty hard to not get cut off by a out of control 3 year old too. I find myself hiding in the glades to escape the over packed trails. The food is way overpriced so we usually stop at a Stewart’s to buy food to save 75%.... Vollständige Bewertung
1st of all if you have an EV vehicle, Tesla, place is a pain, don't bother. Even with IKON, the hassle is huge. Unless your house or rental has a setup the mountain and the surrounding area for many miles has no facilities. It is the absolute worst mountain for EVs.
Skiing is pretty good for all levels.
Getting up the mountain is a pain. Slow and crowded. You cannot escape the crowds by finding isolated lifts since everything is clustered.
The village is nice and the area is pretty so the place is promising. The mountain itself is enjoyable even for experienced skiers so a family of mixed skills can stay together. The place would be far better with training the staff not to stare, to be more polite, not to lie, to be more friendly and helpful. Additional lift capacity such as a bubble chair that goes up the left side of the mountain away from the traffic congestion area where the gondola is, say near the training area. Also, installing working EV charging so people who drive EV vehicles can actually use the mountain safely. We drive to Killington which is further away from our home in NYC and we never have an issue charging, never have fear of not having charge. In Stratton, every day there, we have fear of running out of power, it is not worth going there, even if it is "free" under ikon. We would rather pay to go to Killington or go to Stowe if we want to change things up. Stowe also has destination charging for Tesla and CharePoint. Freaking Hunter and Gore have chargers, so this is nuts! There is a 45 minute difference driving between stratton and stowe and 30 minutes between stratton and killington. It is absolutely not worth the hassle here for anyone with a Tesla or other EV to save this time not have safety in charging.... Vollständige Bewertung
I have tried to like Stratton. We often find the lines are excessively long, there is no grab and go lunch, crowds pervade they trails and ski off by noon. Many novices who shouldn’t be on trails make it dangerous. If you can go on a weekday off peak it can be a dream but suggest avoiding on weekends and holidays!!!!... Vollständige Bewertung
Have been going for years, and will always love Stratton. It is incredibly family friendly, you dont get crazy fast skiers and boarders like some other nearby mountains, and the majority of trails are very well maintained/groomed. The biggest issue for me is the ice, but that is going to happen anywhere in the northeast. At least I've been told people who ski on ice are better overall skiers than those who learn and only ski in soft powder!... Vollständige Bewertung
