Thi is real skiing not some disneyland
If you are a BEGINNER and they don't have the chair lift open I DO NOT recommend. The staff is polite but did not inform that the poma lift has some bumps (its a lift you take in a standing position with skis/board on snow and it pulls you). It makes it tough to ride and since many athletes train here they are not friendly if you are having problems with it. If chair lift is open im sure it would be fine. For intermediate and above I recommend. unfortunately feel it was a waste for me without the above information and the location caters to athletes more than people going to have a good time.

go to steamboat this place could use another lift and twenty or thirty more runs 1 lift 3 runs is not going to get anyones attention. i would rather go to Eldora than here weird as it seems.
It is no wonder that Steamboat Springs and Howlsen Hill provide the United States with more world class Olymipic Athletes than anywhere else. What could be better than a town to have their own municiple ski hill where aerialists, shredders, jumpers, and XX skiers can co mingle tweak their tricks, party and have a great time together helping one another in the process?
One of the longest running ski areas in the country! It was a quick walk from downtown Steamboat. The coolest thing ever was when we visited at night. We saw the mountain lit up, and full of energy. There were skiers jumping off the big Nordic ski jump, Aerialists doing flips and twists, snowboarders sliding rails and jumping in the terrain park, cross country skiers lapping the rodeo grounds, and racers running gates. It looked like an Olympic breeding ground! Come to find out, it is home of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC). The hill is open to the public and owned by the city of Steamboat, but SSWSC uses it for training. Apparently it was once owned by the Winter Sports Club, and they sold it to the city for $1.00. SSWSC now gets exclusive rights for training. Check out Olympian Hall to see all the Olympic flags from the athletes of Steamboat.
