The remarkables and coronet peak are the same company. We paid over 300 for boarding and hire. We were advised to purchased a package on the advice that of you do not use the slope and obtain a beginner lesson then a ski pass is not required. When we signed in it took in excess of 1 hour and 20 minutes because I quote “one system is not taking to another”. This was incovenient however I understand technical difficulties can occur. During our ski hire on each day I was advised that my hire pass was on the ski booking however was not applied to the pass. Each time I had to go to the main desk to advise the rental area. This had to happen each day. When we left the lodge I attempted to obtain the credit based on the written and verbal advise from coronet peak. The manager at remarkables applied the credit to the good looking lady in front however refused to credit me because I “didn’t book at remarkables and I could try it at coronet peak”(1 hour drive). I explained how it was beginning to be frustrating and if it was this important then I will leave the $78. As I left the employee and the manager started laughing in a disrespectful manner to each other. The snow was beautiful and our ski instructor was amazing. I just wish the enquiries area took a page from our instructors book, were a bit more professional and accommodating as it was a disappointing experience. ... Vollständige Bewertung

We found Remarkables to be a good spot for all levels of Skiers / Snowboarders. The lifts weren't as busy as at Coronet which meant more time on the snow and less time waiting at the ski lifts. The staff were friendly / helpful and there was a more relaxed atmosphere on the mountain. This was important for us as we are non frequent skiers /snowboarders (every 3-4 yrs only). The drive up the mountain via the Bus Transport is as scary as the bungy jump I did whilst on hols - how there haven't been any majors spills on this road is a credit to the drivers. Overall, if you can get over the thought of the Bus going over the edge then I'd recommend Remarkables to all levels of thrill seeker.... Vollständige Bewertung

We decided to have a skiing / snowboarding holiday in New Zealand and decided on Queenstown as our destination. We flu to Christchurch and drove the 7 long hours across the Southern Alps to reach Queenstown. The drive in its self was a challenge with snow blizzards and black ice on the roads. We had to stop a few times to fit wheel chains to the car, but it added to the adventure. Queenstown itself is an excellent town to stay; our group stayed in the Oak Shores Apartments looking onto Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range. Ski resorts in New Zealand are different to the ones in Europe in the way that you have to drive to the ski fields. The Remarkables ia about a 45 min drive from Queenstown on a good day. The road up to the base is breathtaking and scary at the same time. Remember to carry chains with you because you’ll need them if it starts to snow. Once you park up, you are walking to a magic carpet which takes you straight to the base station where there is a café, ticket office, hire shop and toilets. After purchasing your ticket you have two lifts to choose from, one on the left and one on the right at the bottom of the nursery slopes. Both lifts are Quad chair lifts which are extremely slow but the views are amazing so it didn’t bother me too much. The resort has terrain for all types of ability. If you are a beginner, the lifts on the left hand side will suit you. In our group we had 2 people who enjoyed the green and blue slopes, and this suited them (it was there best ski resort we visited). If you class yourself as an intermediate / advanced skiing, I would recommend taking the right hand side lift and trying the runs round there. My personal favourite was the Homeward Run. This run is a must for all advanced skiers (if the conditions are right), we were lucky to have fresh power. The only drawback to the Homeward Run is that there isn’t lifts back to the resort so you have to wait for buss to pick you up. At the most I waited 30 mins, but on average it was about 15 mins (well worth it) Also at the Remarkables are snow parks and Jumps which are great. We also paid an extra $30 each to go tubing for 1 hour. Basically, you get a large rubber ring and chuck yourself down the hill side. There is a rope lift dedicated to the tubes so you can connect the tube to the lift, sit in it and it’ll drag you up!! Summary, I really enjoyed my day at the Remarkables. If I had anymore time there, I would have got bored. The snow conditions were excellent and there weren’t any queues for the lifts (which was a major problem with Cadrona and Coronet Peak.) I would recommend the Remarkables to all abilities. If you are learning to ski or snowboard for the first time. I would recommend that you do it here. The Nursery slopes were deserted compared to Cadrona and Coronet Peak. ... Vollständige Bewertung

The Stash at the Remarks is unbelievably fun! I couldn't get enough of it but i did manage to drag myself away to explore the other terrain on the mountain! and boy was it worth it! There is heaps of terrain for advanced skiers to play in! The terrain park (not the stash) is very good as well. The nightlife in Queenstown is world class, heaps of fun after a day on the slopes. It is fairly crowded and you do have to drive up the mountain as there is no on mountain accom. ... Vollständige Bewertung

The Remarkables ski area is a forty five minute drive from Queenstown in New Zealand's South Island. Be warned, the access road is white knuckle driving. It's worth it when you get to the top as The Remarkables feels like a European Alpine experience high in the clouds with mountain peaks all around. The bowls of the Remarkables are sunny and open with some south facing chutes that remain sun protected. The resort isn't enormous, there's 220 hectares of skiable terrain but if you're prepared to hike you'll get some fresh tracks and challenging skiing in the Finger Chutes or even on Homeward Bound with views of Lake Wakatipu. This year Snow Park Technologies USA have designed the terrain parks and rails at the Remarkables which are some of the best in the country. It's a youthful resort with live music on the sundeck at lunch and a good atmosphere. The beginners area sits in front of the day lodge with an easy transition to the green runs above. Runs aren't long but they are open and wide. Skiers and boarders stay in nearby Queenstown for some serious apres ski. This town goes off every winter. ... Vollständige Bewertung

I felt it time to review another mountain from my 2005 New Zealand Snowboarding Trip.traveling the 18km bust trip from Queenstown up a tight narrow gravel road is an experience on its own. Having mainly snowboarded in Switzerland, the traveling up through grass and rocks with not much snow insight was different. If your not scared of height then I suggest you try and get a seat which is on the out side of the mountain not close to the mountain face. This way you get a good view of what below you. On most of the track I would say it would be a tight fit too squeeze and two busses going in different directions.Anyway once you finally get to the top you just pop up into a car park and there it is, Snow. All the way up the gravel track you think to your self is it every going to come, and there it is.So lets get down to the important stuff. When I was there, there was enough snow but there could have been more. You start of by taking what I call a baby lift, up to the first little hill. This a green run, but as long as you break away and head right to the next chair lift, you get up to some more exciting runs. What I found was great at all the Mountains I boarded at in New Zealand were the set ups for snowboarders and skiers that liked jumps & rails etc... The Remarkables was no exception.I was lucky enough to be there at the same time there were some pro's. Some of the things these guys were doing of the well prepared and built jumps was amazing.Another terrific part about the Remarkables is up where the sort of snow park was they played music. It seems easier to move when something is playing. There as another run which you got to from the Car Park or restaurant, but the snow was melting quite fast over there so I only did it a few times. The few times I did do it though, I thought it was fantastic. There was something for everyone, if you were a novice snowboarder that wanted to try your hand at a snow park, they had a special novice snow park created. That I personally feel was a great touch, cause you offen wounder how with out putting your self through heaps of pain you are going to learn how to do some of these tricks you see.I would suggest any one novice to advanced check out The Remarkables if you are in New Zealand. I know I will definately be going there again.... Vollständige Bewertung
