Went up to Glenshee, in early January. My advice is check the weather forecast, before setting off, because the road would be difficult, in snow and without chains. There are plenty of lifts and pistes, but the runs are not beginner friendly. I would class myself, as an intermediate skier, but thought the green runs, were more like blue. Although, this may have been due to the icy conditions and lack of fresh snow. An Instructor told me that with more snowfall they become easier, but I will take his word for that. The positives are that rthere are a wide varity of pistes and runs, with lots of intermediate and red runs, covering 3 valley,, There are 3 cafes, one directly at rhe top of the chair lift and one in the bottom car park. There are 12 electric link ups for campervans, which costs £5.00 per night. There are toilets available, but no showers. Also, you will need to stock up , because the resort, is in a rural seltting, with the nearest pubs, in Blairgowerie or Braemar. Another minor criticism, is that the car park should be gritted. When I was there cars were being pushed out of the car park, on icy and dangerous conditions. This needs to be done regularly, as it is a potential hazard.... Vollständige Bewertung

Of the five Scottish ski centres this is the nearest to Perth Dundee and Aberdeen making a half day ski a possibility It also gets very busy but there are 21 lifts and three valleys so you are sure to find somewhere with no queue. There are very few full time staff as it is operater owned and many part timers and they do a first class job with old lifts, high winds, icing dealing with crowds of ski ers etc.As it lies on Scotlands highest A road there is direct access from your car to the snow, there are 6 lifts direct from the road which is the location of the beginners area. The duty to clear the road is that of the local authority the ski centre is not allowed to do it athough they clear the car park. There are three excellent café s one at the road side the others at high level all licenced. There is ski hire and ski school available by the roadside and a fully staffed rescue centre. The website is accurate and get up to date however conditions can change very quickly. As the site extends over three valleys and four mountains you have an almost alpine experience of extended travel. The Tiger chair gives acess to 800 ft demanding black and there is much scope for ski touring and off piste... The morning before going to Glenshee , checked on their website which telling 17 out of 22 lifts are opening, when I arrived, ONLY 5 runs are available !! I arrived there at 10:45 , i witnessed cars needed to be pushed in n out of the parking space, it showed poor maintaince of it. At 11am, wind started picking up , at 1pm the wind was really strong n decided to packup n leave. That's the real problem unless u have Jeep kind of cars of SPADE is must since in the space of 2 hrs , that long steep road is covered by at least few inches of snow , I have to say its really dangerous to drive under that condition since drivers have to deal with oncoming traffic as well. The Glenshee ski centre has no sense of sending tractor or grittier out at all untill cars are stuck there n the consequence is AT LEAST 100 cars jammed for at least 2 HOURS ! My point s , ski centre has no intenson to maintain the road safety n care less to customers, not once or twice. Disappointed. ... Vollständige Bewertung

Ok so it's a bit of a struggle to get to every so often and the facilities are not exactly comparable to European resorts however the terrain when there is a full cover, is. There are natural half and quarter pipes scattered around the resort and a plethera of lips and natural kickers to jib and throw yourself off. Even on a day when there was only the sunnyside and Butcharts open fun was had and in plenty. Glenshee is perhaps not what an alpine skier would think of as a great place to ski but as an experienced snowboarder having spent seven seasons abroad in Europe and Canada, it still brings a very large smile to my face when I role up to the carpark to see the lifts are running and the conditions are good knowing a fun day will be had.... Glenshee is maybe not the best known of Scotland’s five ski areas, but it is the largest in terms of the number of lifts and runs. Being a bit more realistic a lot of those lifts are pretty past it, elderly things from a by-gone era when the place got a lot more skier visits each winter. The centre has changed owners a few times over the past few years, not surprising that it’s hard for it to stay in business with the variable snow conditions which are a big issue here like in all Scottish ski areas. When we visited conditions were great – much better than the previous season, and as a result the centre was swamped and they were having to turn people away from the car parks. One of the best things to look out for is the manager’s dog which runs up and grabs on to the lifts with its teeth and gets carried up the slope. ... Vollständige Bewertung
